In July the Subsonix Dragon Boat club will travel to Szeged Hungary to compete in the 2018 World Club Crew Championships. Subsonix will compete with 146 clubs from 24 countries in the 7 day event. The event will be held in the beautiful city of Szeged from July 17th to July 22nd. This is the first time Subbies will be competing at Club Crew World Championships overseas and is the product of our performance at the Australian Nationals in Adelaide and Albury. Please follow our social media pages to stay up to date on this exciting event.
The new season is just starting and we would like to extend a warm welcome to you to come and try the sport of dragonboating. Whether you want to paddle socially or competitively, there are numerous opportunities for travel, locally, interstate and internationally.
We are back to training two times a week. From this week, we will be training Tuesday nights and Sunday mornings. Please be at Bower Road ready to warm up at 17.45 this coming Tuesday. There is no change to Sunday training, which is warm at 8.45 a.m. for 9.00 a.m. on the water.
We have a huge year ahead of us with the Club Crew World Championships in Hungary next year (July), along with the Nationals which are being held in Penrith. We have some serious training ahead of us, sprinkled with heaps of fun. Now is a great time to join so give us a call or email today!
We really need about 3-4 more women paddlers to join our club so we can get more medals this year! If you’re aged 12 to 99 and want to make some new friends and improve your health and fitness, or if you’re competitive and you want the opportunity to compete at a national level, come and try paddling! Your first 4 sessions are free and if you decide to join up the cost is about $350 per year, includes race fees, jerseys, and all equipment. We train on West Lakes 3x per week, or however often you can make it. Men are welcome too.
Is your company looking for a team building event that your employees will get excited about?

The team did very well in the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Carnival. Subsonix mixed 10’s team achieved a bronze medal in the 200 mtr race on the first day of racing. Up against some stiff (and younger) competition.
Second day it was the ladies turn to bring home a bronze medal in the PowerSonix composite team. Again no mean feat, up against the Singapore National team and with only 16 ladies in the boat. Alli B did a fantastic job sweeping in challenging waters.
We are extremely proud of ourselves, the team and our club. We have formed new friendships with our interstate and local ring in’s from, Black Dragons, Water Warriors, Powerblades, Albury Braveheart’s, Broadwater and Manly Dragons and thank them immensely for their support.
The racing completed with the Celebration dinner with the entire team (squad of 40) taking part and opening the cultural performance, needless to say we had a blast.
3 Course Dinner, Live Music to celebrates SADA’s 15 year anniversary. Great opportunity to have some team fun and mix with our Dragon Boat Community.
